WHO ARE WE?

Laman is a women clothing brand headquartered in Lahore that centers on creating fashion that draws inspiration from Pushto cultural influences and is a blend of traditional boldness and contemporaneity. Translated as “hemline” in Pushto, Laman is set to explore ‘nowstalagia’ through concepts, fabrics, embroideries, and silhouettes with a vision to become a women clothing brand that has its principles rooted in embracing and celebrating who we are and where we are from…our authentic self!

The Creative Director, Zarmeena Khan, hails from Islamabad and developed a rather multi-cultural approach to women clothing at the onset of her academic life. Her parents belonged to Swat, a frontier city, steeped in rich culture and characterized by cheer and drama. While growing up, she was always surrounded by an all-embracing, indigenous Pushto culture which had both, bold and simplistic undertones. She then came to Lahore, the cultural hub of the country, and graduated with a bachelor's in Textile Design from the National College of Arts. She expanded her amalgamative approach to textile design in contemporary women's clothing to garment construction and joined a leading women clothing brand in Pakistan as a fashion designer. When she left the company, she was leading a product line.

Now, as she flies solo in the realm of fashion, Zarmeena is driven to channel her nuanced aesthetics to dig deeper into Pukhtoon artifacts and harmonize them through her clothing brand in Pakistan. She is driven to not only bring Pushto crafts, techniques, and design philosophy into the limelight and at the same time, she wants to push her creative boundaries through her women clothing brand to create novelty, each time it is experienced.
